Rumspringa

Rumspringa is a rite of passage during adolescence practiced in some Amish and Mennonite communities. Beginning around the age of 16, it allows youth to experience the modern outside world and engage in behaviors normally forbidden by their community. The period concludes when the youth chooses either to be baptized into the church or to leave the community permanently.
