A photon is an elementary particle that serves as the quantum of the electromagnetic field, including electromagnetic radiation such as light and radio waves. It acts as the force carrier for the electromagnetic force, is massless, and travels at the speed of light in a vacuum. As a gauge boson, the photon exhibits wave–particle duality, displaying properties of both waves and particles.
