Generation IV reactor

Topic

Generation IV (Gen IV) reactors are a set of theoretical nuclear reactor designs currently being researched and developed as successors to Generation III reactors. Coordinated by the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), these designs target significant improvements in safety, sustainability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The initiative has selected six candidate reactor technologies, including molten-salt and fast neutron reactors, with commercial deployment generally expected in the coming decades.
