The Egyptian pyramids are ancient masonry structures located in Egypt, primarily built as monumental tombs for the country's pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods. Over 130 of these iconic structures have been identified, with the most famous being the Giza pyramid complex near Cairo.
