The Burmese python (Python bivittatus) is one of the largest species of snakes in the world, native to a large area of Southeast Asia. Listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, it was historically considered a subspecies of the Indian python before being recognized as a distinct species. It has also established a notable invasive population in Florida as a result of the pet trade.
