Bioweapons, or biological weapons, are infectious agents or toxins used with the intent to kill, injure, or incapacitate humans, animals, or plants as an act of war or terrorism. These agents include pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, as well as toxic substances produced by living organisms. The development, production, and stockpiling of these weapons are internationally prohibited under the Biological Weapons Convention.
