Organization

The Aztec Empire, also known as the Triple Alliance, was an alliance of three Nahua city-states: Mexico-Tenochtitlan, Tetzcoco, and Tlacopan. It ruled the Valley of Mexico and expanded its control across Mesoamerica from 1428 until its conquest by Spanish conquistadores and their native allies in 1521.
