Assimilation, or cultural assimilation, is the process by which a minority group or culture comes to resemble a society's majority group or fully adopts its values, behaviors, and beliefs. This social phenomenon is often associated with the "melting pot" model, where diverse cultures blend into a single, cohesive national identity. It stands in contrast to multiculturalism, which encourages the preservation of distinct cultural identities within a single society.
