World-making theory
Topic
World-making theory (or worldmaking) is a philosophical concept introduced by Nelson Goodman in his 1978 book "Ways of Worldmaking." It posits that we do not discover a single, ready-made world, but rather construct multiple valid versions of reality through various symbolic systems, including science, art, and language. This perspective forms the basis of Goodman's philosophical position known as irrealism, which challenges traditional notions of absolute objectivity.
