The Vietnam War (c. 1955–30 April 1975) was an armed conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia between North Vietnam and South Vietnam and their respective allies. It was the second Indochina War and a major Cold War proxy conflict, with North Vietnam supported by the Soviet Union and China and South Vietnam supported by the United States and other anti-communist nations.
