Volcanoes National Park is a national park in northwestern Rwanda that covers 160 square kilometers of rainforest and encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains. It is world-renowned as a sanctuary for the endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkey, and famously served as the research base for primatologist Dian Fossey.
