Visceral fat
Topic
Visceral fat, also known as intra-abdominal fat, is a type of body fat that is stored within the abdominal cavity and surrounds several important internal organs, such as the liver, pancreas, and intestines. Unlike subcutaneous fat, which is stored just beneath the skin, visceral fat is metabolically active and strongly linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.
