Virginia, officially the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a state in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, situated between the Atlantic Coast and the Appalachian Mountains. Known as the "Old Dominion" and the "Mother of Presidents," it is bordered by Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. The state's capital is Richmond, and its most populous city is Virginia Beach.
