Vioxx was the brand name for rofecoxib, a prescription COX-2-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It was used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain, migraine, and dysmenorrhea, but was withdrawn from the market after concerns about increased cardiovascular risk.
