Venus is the second planet from the Sun, similar in size and mass to Earth but featuring a far thicker and denser atmosphere. It is the hottest planet in the Solar System, with a surface temperature of about 464 °C (867 °F) and an atmosphere composed mostly of carbon dioxide with thick clouds of sulfuric acid.
