Vaginal estrogen
Topic
Vaginal estrogen is a form of estrogen delivered via intravaginal administration, primarily exerting localized effects on nearby tissues with limited systemic absorption. It is commonly used to treat symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause, such as vaginal dryness and discomfort, and is available in formulations including creams, rings, and tablets. Unlike oral estrogen, it generally does not alleviate systemic menopausal symptoms like hot flashes or protect against osteoporosis.
