Urban air mobility (UAM) is the use of small, highly automated aircraft to transport passengers or cargo at low altitudes within urban and suburban areas. Developed as a response to increasing ground traffic congestion, it encompasses technologies such as traditional helicopters, vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft (VTOL), and electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft (eVTOL).
