Ultraviolet radiation
Topic
Ultraviolet radiation is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths ranging from 100 to 400 nanometers, which is shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays. It is present in sunlight, constituting about 10% of the Sun's total electromagnetic output, and is also produced by artificial sources like electric arcs and specialized lights. Although invisible to the human eye, it can cause chemical reactions and is widely used in medical, industrial, and sanitization applications.
