Turkey, officially the Republic of Türkiye, is a transcontinental country mainly located on the Anatolian Peninsula in West Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. It is bordered by eight countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. The country is home to a rich cultural heritage and a population of over 86 million people, with Ankara serving as its capital and Istanbul as its largest city.
