Turbojet
Topic
A turbojet is an airbreathing jet engine typically used in aircraft, consisting of a gas turbine with a propelling nozzle. It functions by compressing air, mixing it with fuel for combustion, and expanding the resulting hot gases through a turbine to drive the compressor before exhausting them at high speed to generate thrust. While highly efficient at supersonic speeds, turbojets have largely been replaced in modern subsonic aviation by more fuel-efficient turbofan engines.
