The Trojan War was a legendary conflict in Greek mythology waged by the Achaeans (Greeks) against the city of Troy. According to tradition, the war began after Paris of Troy abducted Helen from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta. It is one of the most significant events in Greek mythology and is famously detailed in Homer's epic poem, the Iliad.
