Toxicity is the degree to which a chemical substance or a particular mixture of substances can damage an organism. It can refer to effects on a whole organism, such as an animal, bacterium, or plant, as well as effects on substructures like cells or specific organs. In everyday usage, the term is often used synonymously with poisoning.
