Norepinephrine, also known as noradrenaline, is an organic chemical in the catecholamine family that functions in the brain and body as a hormone, neurotransmitter, and neuromodulator. Its general function is to mobilize the brain and body for action, with release levels being lowest during sleep and rising during wakefulness. It is also used as a medication to treat people with critically low blood pressure.
