Metabolic Health
Topic
Metabolic health refers to the optimal functioning of the body's biochemical processes that convert food into energy and manage macronutrients. It is typically defined by having optimal levels of five key clinical markers without the aid of medication: blood glucose, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist circumference. Maintaining good metabolic health reduces the risk of developing chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome.
