Tissue engineering
Topic
Tissue engineering is a biomedical engineering discipline that uses a combination of cells, engineering, materials methods, and suitable biochemical and physicochemical factors to restore, maintain, improve, or replace different types of biological tissues. It often involves placing cells onto tissue scaffolds to form new viable tissue for medical purposes. While closely related to regenerative medicine, tissue engineering focuses specifically on the fabrication of functional constructs that restore or maintain tissue function.
