Theranos was an American privately held health technology company founded in 2003 by Elizabeth Holmes. The company claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing rapid, automated tests that required only very small amounts of blood, but these claims were later exposed as fraudulent. At its peak, the company was valued at $9 billion before collapsing and dissolving in 2018.
