The Silmarillion is a posthumously published collection of myths and stories about the fictional universe of Eä, including the histories of Valinor, Beleriand, and Númenor. Edited and published by Tolkien’s son Christopher in 1977, it provides the foundational mythology and ancient history of Middle-earth.
