The Bahamas, officially the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is an archipelagic country within the Lucayan Archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. It comprises over 700 islands and 2,500 cays, located north of Cuba and southeast of the Florida peninsula. The capital and largest city is Nassau, situated on the island of New Providence.
