A Taser is a brand of handheld conducted energy device (CED) designed to temporarily incapacitate targets using high-voltage electric current. It fires two small barbed darts connected to the main unit by thin wires, which deliver an electrical shock that disrupts voluntary muscle control. Developed as a less-lethal weapon, it is widely used by law enforcement agencies and for personal self-defense.
