Work

A broad corpus of texts produced in ancient Sumer, including religious compositions, myths, hymns, administrative records, legal documents, and other traditional writings. Written primarily in the Sumerian language during the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC, these works form the earliest known corpus of recorded literature and were later preserved in part by Akkadian and Babylonian scribes.
