Sugar-sweetened beverages
Topic
Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) are drinks that contain added caloric sweeteners, such as sucrose, high-fructose corn syrup, or fruit juice concentrates. Common examples include sodas, fruit drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, and sweetened teas. Due to their high sugar content and minimal nutritional value, regular consumption of these beverages is strongly linked to health issues such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
