Special effects (often abbreviated as SFX, F/X, or FX) are illusions or visual tricks used in theater, film, television, video games, and other entertainment industries to simulate fictional events. They are traditionally divided into mechanical (or practical) effects, which are captured physically during live-action shooting, and optical effects, which are created photographically or digitally in post-production.
