Solar radiation modification (SRM), also known as solar geoengineering, is a group of proposed large-scale climate engineering approaches designed to reduce global warming by reflecting a small fraction of sunlight back into space. These techniques, which include stratospheric aerosol injection and marine cloud brightening, are intended to complement rather than replace greenhouse gas mitigation efforts.
