Sociosexuality, or sociosexual orientation, refers to the individual difference in a person's willingness to engage in sexual activity outside of a committed relationship. Those with a restricted orientation prefer emotional closeness and commitment before having sex, while those with an unrestricted orientation are more comfortable engaging in casual sex without emotional ties.
