The simulation theory, also known as the simulation hypothesis, proposes that what humans experience as the physical universe is actually an artificial, simulated reality, such as a highly advanced computer simulation. The concept has been widely debated in philosophy, physics, and popular culture, most notably popularized in modern discourse by philosopher Nick Bostrom's 2003 paper.
