Shinya Yamanaka is a Japanese physician-scientist whose discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) transformed regenerative-biology research. He shared the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for this work.
