Sherlocked
Topic
"Sherlocked" is a technology industry term used to describe when a major platform developer, most notably Apple, releases a first-party feature or application that replicates and effectively obsoletes the functionality of a pre-existing third-party utility. The term originated in the early 2000s when Apple updated its "Sherlock" search tool to include web-scraping features that directly copied the functionality of Karelia Software's popular third-party application, Watson.
