Sex hormone-binding globulin
Topic
Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is a glycoprotein that binds to androgens and estrogens, regulating their bioavailability in the bloodstream. It is produced primarily by the liver and released into the general circulation. When produced by the Sertoli cells in the seminiferous tubules of the testis, it is referred to as androgen-binding protein (ABP).
