SerDes (serializer/deserializer) is a pair of functional blocks used in high-speed communications to convert data between parallel and serial interfaces in both directions. It enables high-bandwidth transmission over a single line or differential pair while reducing I/O pin and interconnect requirements, and is used in technologies such as Ethernet, PCIe, USB, MIPI, and automotive links.
