The San Diego Zoo is a world-renowned zoo located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. Founded in 1916 by Dr. Harry M. Wegeforth, it pioneered the concept of open-air, cage-less exhibits designed to recreate natural animal habitats. Today, it is managed by the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and is one of the most visited zoos in the United States.
