Topic

The salience network is a large-scale brain network primarily composed of the anterior insula and dorsal anterior cingulate cortex. It plays a critical role in detecting and filtering biologically and cognitively salient stimuli, as well as coordinating behavioral responses. Additionally, it is theorized to mediate switching between the default mode network and the central executive network.
