The Rwandan genocide occurred between 7 April and 19 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. Over a span of approximately 100 days, armed Hutu militias systematically slaughtered an estimated 500,000 to over 1,000,000 members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group, alongside moderate Hutu and Twa.
