A roast is a form of insult comedy in which a specific individual, the guest of honor, is subjected to jokes at their expense, alongside genuine praise and tributes. The event is predicated on the understanding that the roastee can take the jokes in good humor rather than as serious criticism. Typically hosted by a "roastmaster," the event also features friends and peers who trade comedic barbs with one another.
