The red panda (Ailurus fulgens), also known as the lesser panda, is a small mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It is characterized by its dense reddish-brown fur, a ringed tail, and excellent climbing abilities adapted for life in trees. It is the only living species of the genus Ailurus and the family Ailuridae.
