Rat Park was a series of influential studies into drug addiction conducted in the late 1970s by Canadian psychologist Bruce K. Alexander. The experiments demonstrated that rats in an enriched, social environment were far less likely to consume morphine-laced water than those kept in isolation, suggesting that social environment is a key factor in addiction.
