Ramjet
Topic
A ramjet is a form of airbreathing jet engine that uses the vehicle's forward motion to compress incoming air for combustion without a rotary compressor. Because they cannot produce thrust at zero airspeed, ramjets require an assisted takeoff or another propulsion system to accelerate them to a speed where they can operate. They function most efficiently at supersonic speeds around Mach 3 and can operate up to speeds of Mach 6.
