Psoriasis is a long-lasting, noncontagious autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin. These areas are typically red, dry, itchy, and scaly, varying in severity from small localized patches to complete body coverage. Skin injury can trigger localized psoriatic changes, a reaction known as the Koebner phenomenon.
