Pol Pot was a Cambodian politician, revolutionary, and dictator who led the Khmer Rouge and ruled Democratic Kampuchea from 1975 to 1979. His regime oversaw the Cambodian genocide, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 1.5 to 2 million people through mass executions, forced labor, and famine.
