Plaque reversal, also known as atherosclerotic plaque regression, refers to the reduction in the volume, size, or high-risk features of lipid-laden plaques within the arterial walls. This process is primarily achieved through intensive medical therapies, such as high-dose statins and PCSK9 inhibitors, which lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and promote plaque stabilization.
