Paul Bach-y-Rita was an American neuroscientist and physician who pioneered the study of neuroplasticity and sensory substitution. He is best known for developing the Tactile Vision Sensory Substitution (TVSS) system, which allowed blind individuals to perceive visual information through tactile stimulation on their skin.
